Poster Competition
Poster Competition is offered to encourage students and recent graduates to present their research. During the IGMC poster sessions all participants of students, scientists and researchers will have the chance to present, interact and share their work and ideas in the Genomics field. If you are among the Poster Competition winners then you will have the opportunity to get your work published in the BMC Genomics journal.
  • This competition is open to all Graduates, Post Graduates, Postdocs and Research Scholars not above the age of 35
  • The deadline for the abstract submission for poster competition will be closed 4 weeks before the conference starting date Sunday, Nov 29, 2015 so all participants are kindly requested to submit their abstracts well in advance.
  • To submit an abstract, candidates must be registered first. They can proceed for payment if he/she has been notified with the decision regarding their submitted abstract.
  • The abstract should include complete details such as abstract title, author name, affiliation, abstract text and references etc.). For sample template, please click here
  • Abstracts have to be submitted online through the conference website at, then go to awards > poster competition
  • If the registered author/poster presenter is unable to attend the conference, then he/she may appoint one of the co-authors as a substitute (or any member from the same institution).
  • The Abstract list of authors could be included after reasonable justification following a suggestion from the corresponding author.
  • Acceptance of the abstract for poster competition will be decided by the “Organizing Committee” and their decision will be final.
Judging Criteria
  • The judgment will be done by a Board of highly distinguished scientists.
  • When the competition is being conducted, we kindly request that each participant to be physically present at his/her poster to answer questions from the judges.
  • The judges will come to your poster during poster presentations. The presentation schedule will be sent to the participants once the program is finalized.
  • You will be given about 5-7 minutes to present your poster including questions and answers. Judges may pose questions during the evaluation of the poster.
  • Judges will also take into account the enthusiasm and the passion of the poster presenters towards their own study as well as the presenters’ background awareness in the area of their research.
  • The poster competition winners will be announced at the closing ceremony of the IGMC conference. The poster winners must be physically present at the time of the decision announcement otherwise the prize will be given to the next candidate who is actually present at the announcement time.
  • The judge’s decision will be final and no clarification or justification will be given.
The selection of the winner will be based on:
  • The clarity of the presentation
  • The completeness of the work
  • The overall performance in handling the judges and audience questions
